How to purchase or import a domain

Edited

You can register a domain through Vehiso, or bring one you already own. Either way it ends up in the same place: My Account > Domains.

Registering a new domain through Vehiso

  1. Go to My Account > Domains.

  2. Select Register Domain.

  3. Type the domain you want and search. Vehiso checks whether it is available.

  4. If it is, go through the purchase.

You get an email within a few minutes once the registration completes. Some registrars ask us to confirm your contact details, so watch your inbox for a confirmation request - a domain whose contact details are never confirmed can be suspended.

Importing a domain you already own

  1. Go to My Account > Domains.

  2. Select Import Domain.

  3. Enter the domain name and import it. It appears in the list with a Verification required status.

  4. Select Verify Domain and add the DNS records shown to the DNS settings at your current provider.

Once the records are live, we verify them and email you to confirm the domain is ready to use with Vehiso. DNS changes can take a little while to propagate, so if it does not verify immediately, leave it and check back.

Looking after a domain

From the domain in My Account > Domains you can also:

  • Turn auto-renew on or off. A domain that expires takes your website and your email with it, so leave auto-renew on unless you mean to let it go.

  • Lock or unlock the domain against transfers.

  • Set up a redirect to another of your domains, which is how you point an old address at your current one.

  • Edit the DNS records. The records Vehiso created for your website, email and certificates are shown but cannot be changed - everything else is yours to manage.

Next, point the domain at your site: How to link a domain to your website.
