How to set up Vehiso Mail on Outlook for Windows
Vehiso Mail works with any mail app that speaks IMAP. These are the settings for Outlook on Windows.
Before you start
Create the mailbox first. In the DMS, go to Administration > Email Management and select Create Email Account: choose the part before the @, set a password of at least 12 characters, and give a recovery email address. Your domain has to be set up for email before mailboxes can be created - the same screen tells you if it is not, and shows the DNS records still needed.
You can always read the mailbox in the browser at mail.vehiso.com, with or without setting Outlook up.
Your settings
Setting | Value |
|---|---|
Incoming server (IMAP) |
|
Incoming server (POP3, if you use POP) |
|
Outgoing server (SMTP) |
|
Username | your full email address |
Password | the mailbox password |
Outgoing mail needs authentication, using the same username and password as incoming.
Choose IMAP rather than POP3 unless you have a reason not to. IMAP keeps the mailbox in step across your computer, your phone and webmail; POP3 pulls mail down onto one machine.
Setting it up
Open Outlook and go to File > Add Account.
Enter your name, your full email address and the mailbox password, and let Outlook try to configure it.
If that does not work, start again and choose Manual setup or additional server types, then POP or IMAP.
Enter the settings from the table above. Leave Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) unticked.
Select More Settings > Outgoing Server and tick My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication, with Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
On the Advanced tab, set the ports and encryption from the table above.
Select OK, then Next, and let Outlook test the connection.
If it will not connect
Check the password has no spaces at either end, and that the username is the full email address rather than just the part before the @.
Check the mailbox is Enabled under Administration > Email Management.
Try the same details at mail.vehiso.com. If webmail works, the mailbox is fine and the problem is in Outlook's settings.
Newer versions of Outlook use a different account screen that asks for the server details after the password rather than before. The values are the same.
