How to set up Vehiso Mail on Apple Mail for Mac

Edited

Vehiso Mail works with any mail app that speaks IMAP. These are the settings for Apple Mail on a Mac.

Before you start

Create the mailbox first. In the DMS, go to Administration > Email Management and select Create Email Account: choose the part before the @, set a password of at least 12 characters, and give a recovery email address.

You can always read the mailbox in the browser at mail.vehiso.com, with or without setting Apple Mail up.

mail.vehiso.com, port 993, SSL/TLS

Outgoing mail server (SMTP)

Outgoing mail needs authentication, using the same username and password as incoming.

Setting it up

  1. In Mail, go to Mail > Add Account.

  2. Choose Other Mail Account and select Continue.

  3. Enter your name, your full email address and the mailbox password, then select Sign In.

  4. Apple Mail usually cannot find the settings on its own, and asks for them. Enter the values from the table above, with IMAP as the account type.

  5. Select Done.

If it will not connect

  • Retype the password rather than pasting it, in case a space came with it, and check the username is the full email address.

  • Check the mailbox is Enabled under Administration > Email Management.

  • Try the same details at mail.vehiso.com. If webmail works, the mailbox is fine and the problem is in the Mail settings.

  • If Apple Mail created the account but nothing arrives, open Mail > Settings > Accounts > Server Settings and check the incoming and outgoing servers both read mail.vehiso.com.

The same settings work on an iPhone or iPad: Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account > Other.
